We are thrilled to bring you the brilliant, contemporary lighting designs of acclaimed New Zealand designer David Trubridge!

Derived from the structure and patterns of nature and a deep passion for the landscape, his original designs reflect a breezy, sophisticated flavor of the South Pacific.

Sensitivity to the environment is paramount throughout his design process, and that sense of care is imbued within the objects he creates. The results are authentic and enduring, achieving maximum effect with minimum materials.

Meet the Designers
Lump’s quintessentially Australian artworks are custom made from Christo Vassallo and Timothea Jewell’s designs. They are produced in the company’s Abbotsford studio, just north of Melbourne. Drawing together diverse practical and theoretical backgrounds in art and design, they have developed a unique approach which fuses modern design with old fashioned craftsmanship, achieving striking works of art.

Deriving inspiration from broad influences across art and architecture, their work embodies the desire for unique expression while focusing on the preservation of hand-crafted quality. The application of rigorous research in material durability in outdoor environments, along with the team’s ability to adapt designs to a range of landscapes, has seen Lump enjoy relationships with prominent architects and cutting edge interior, exterior and landscape designers, in addition to their private commissions.

Notably, the team partnered with Jamie Durie and Fleming’s Nurseries to create a space which showcased a beautiful, relaxed and uniquely Australian outdoor lifestyle, and won a Gold Medal at the 2008 Chelsea Garden Show.

“We find that our clients are very well informed. They do their research and want a piece that provides a focal point in their garden or courtyard. It becomes a reflection of their own tastes and sense of style as much as ours. They don’t want to replicate a trend; our clients want a unique piece that says as much about them as individuals as it does about us as artists.” (Timothea)

Designs abroad offers a number of custom features within the Lump range, to help our clients create the perfect light feature for their indoor and outdoor projects.
